Unfortunately, last minute changes to scheduled dances do sometimes occur. That's why no matter whether you dance to a local club, or travel a good distance to a dance, it is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED that you contact the person listed BEFORE TRAVELING to a dance. Clubs sometimes CHANGE their location, or CANCEL their dance that day, for various reasons (weather, etc.), hall conflicts/issues, holidays, or for other clubs Special Dances.

It can be VERY FRUSTRATING after driving a long distance to find that a club is ''dark'' (not dancing)... especially with the price of gasoline nowadays!! It's better to be safe than sorry, by calling ahead before you travel. This is especially true when severe weather (thunderstorms, tornadoes, flooding), or winter weather (snow, ice, etc.) affects an area. For Arkansas weather information, click here.

Besides the club contact, you can also check the Arkansas Road Conditions Map. For weather related road conditions, please call either (501) 569-2374 (in the Little Rock Metro Area), or Toll Free at (800) 245-1672. You can also get information from Arkansas Skywarn. Links are on that page to the Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as Live Audio from the W5DI Repeater.

Note that clubs that are normally scheduled to dance on various holidays...such as Easter Weekend, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, or New Years Day, may be CANCELLED. The exception would be for clubs that have a New Years Eve Evening Special Dance, as they have in central Arkansas in years past.

If your club has to make a last minute change or cancellation...either in a regular dance, or a special dance...please contact me via this link, or via the ASSDF Officers Page. A contact person will be listed for any updates...such as if a dance is rescheduled, plus any comments, if applicable.

Lastly, some clubs will dance in casual attire during the summer months, to better cope with the hot weather... check with the club contact for information.

Dance Changes

Due to problems with the previously announced dance time change, the Rebel Reelers have switched their dance time back to 7:30pm to 9:30pm on the 2nd and 4th Friday nights of the month, at the Wesley United Methodist Church, 2310 Oak Street (Highway 64 East), in Conway. Please contact Ken and Dean Talley at (501) 868-8310, for more information.

The Guys 'N Dolls have CHANGED their dance location to the Fraternal Order Of Eagles Building, at 3407 Broad Street, Texarkana, Arkansas (about 1/2 mile south of the Texarkana Airport. They still dance on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month, except as noted below. Please contact either Betty Rateliff at (870) 774-6363 OR Bill Smith at (903) 277-5659, for more information.

Dance Cancellations

Due to a lack of heat at the Mabelvale Legion Hut at Mann Road and Leah Lane (where both the Twirling Lariats and Maverick Mixers clubs dance), and with forecast temperatures in the teens overnight, and highs in the 30s, the Maverick Mixers Roadkill Chili Supper and Dance, originally scheduled for this coming Saturday, Feb. 28, 2015, HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Due to the discovery of a gas leak, which could've caused a deadly explosion and fire (and possibly loss of life), the gas meter for the Legion Hut was REMOVED on Feb. 26, 2015. As a result, there is no gas to cook or heat with at that location. It is UNKNOWN when the problem may be fixed, the extent of repairs, but a Fund Raising Dance is scheduled for Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Mabelvale Legion Hut, with proceeds going to repairs of the gas line...and other repairs (such as paving or putting gravel for the parking lot), when funding permits. Because of the Fund Raising Dance, their March 20 dance (the night before) is CANCELLED. The clubs apologize for any inconvenience caused by the cancellations and changes.

The Guys 'N Dolls will be dark (not dancing) on March 27 (spring break), October 9 (the ASSDF Fall Festival), and December 25 (Christmas). Please contact either Betty Rateliff at (870) 774-6363 OR Bill Smith at (903) 277-5659, for more information.

The Diamond Squares will be dark (not dancing), on March 30, due to caller Gordon White, with his wife, Sue, attending the Callerlab Convention in Springfield, Missouri. Please contact Gordon and Sue White at (501) 922-0803 for more information.

Note that other clubs may be dark (not dancing) for the Christmas, and New Years Holidays as well...please check with the various
clubs and contacts, for more information.

Arkansas can have episodes of severe weather, including tornadoes, large hail, damaging winds, and flash flooding... on occur any day of the year, at any time of the day or night. Plus, there is a risk of snow or ice during the winter months.

Please check with the various club contacts before traveling to a dance, to be sure that you don't ''waste a trip''. It's not worth risking your life due to hazardous weather, and road conditions...especially if there are areas of significant storm damage, flooding, or snow/ice along your travel route.

Clubs That Have Disbanded

One always hates to note this, but some clubs have had to disband, due to a lack of membership, loss of dance facilities, etc. While clubs that have disbanded will be REMOVED IMMEDIATELY from the clubs page, the information will remain on this page for approximately 90 days (3 months) after the Webmaster has been made aware of such; after which time, it'll be placed here.
