In Memoriam - Overview

This page was last updated September 28, 2014.

Over the years, many of those that were involved in square dancing, round dancing, etc. have gone on to The Eternal Square...both in Arkansas, and around the world. These individuals who have gone on before us...whether callers, cuers (or their spouses), or dancers...helped to make the hobby what it is today. While they may be gone from our dance floors, they are certainly not forgotten.

Please contact me via this link, following the instructions there, to send me an , with the names of these individuals, and whether they were a caller, cuer, spouse of a caller or cuer, a dancer, a club, or even callers/cuers who are still alive, but have ''retired''...as well as any needed corrections to the information on this page.

I've also added the names of square dance clubs that have long since disbanded. All I need is the club name, and the city where they danced. The club listings are in no particular order. In 1985, there were nearly 20 clubs in the Little Rock area alone. Now, nearly 30 years later, that's the number of clubs in the entire state of Arkansas!! Thanks to dancer Regina Turner, and retired cuer Mick Watts for much of the information.

And, I've added the names of callers and cuers of long ago, who to my knowledge, are still alive, but have ''retired'' from calling/cueing. If any of the retired callers/cuers have passed on, please let me know, so I can move them to the proper category.

Even though I've been involved in square dancing in one way or another for nearly 30 years, I have forgotten the names of many dancers, and clubs in the past. If there are any errors on this page, or the website, please contact me, with the details, so the errors can be fixed.

Your help in preserving and remembering the legacy of the dancers and clubs before us would be greatly appreciated.

Please note that since the subscription to The Modern Square is AUTOMATICALLY TERMINATED in the event of the death of the caller, cuer, or dancer (one obviously has no use for it after they've died). However, if the widow or family member of the dancer wants a complimentary 3 month extension for information on memorials to their deceased loved one in Club Reports, they should contact the Circulation Manager, with the report of the passing of their loved one...and include a copy of the obituary, confirming the death of said caller, cuer, or dancer. If they want to continue subscribing afterwards, they can do so with information found on this page. If there was still several months left on the subscription, the expiration date will be REDUCED to 3 months after the death of said dancer, caller, or cuer...unless the widow or family member wants the full balance of subscription to be fulfilled.

Daryl Stout, Webmaster, Arkansas State Square Dance Federation
