Special Dances are dances held by a club, usually at a date, time, and
possibly location, that is different than when their regular dance is scheduled. In these cases, they may bring in a
Guest Caller Or Cuer for the dance...usually one with regional or national name recognition.
Benefit Dancers are held by a club to help a club member or a family with medical expenses, or to recover from a
disaster, such as a fire, flood, tornado, etc. Also, some clubs do Christmas Benefits for the
Toys For Tots campaign.
Dances listed, include the day, date, time, location, club sponsor, caller and/or cuer, admission fee, contact, and
any other applicable information...such as a Teacup Auction. If information such as a caller/cuer, time, location, etc.
is missing from the information, it can NOT be listed here.
Note that if the dance listing is WRONG in The Modern Square, it is
WRONG here. Please check with the contact person listed to verify the date(s), time(s), etc.
In line with
this, at the bottom of the page is a brief overview of unconfirmed dances that either have wrong dates,
missing information, etc. from The Modern Square. As such, these are NOT in the listings,
per se...and they will remain unlisted, until myself and/or the Editor of The Modern Square are contacted.

These are special and benefit dances, arranged in chronlogical order, both inside Arkansas, and in states surrounding
Arkansas...as well as the National Square Dance Convention, and the
Single Square Dancers USA Labor Day Dance-A-Rama, among others.

Note that the original planned tour of Cowboys Stadium has been
CHANGED, due to a Garden Show there that weekend. Instead, there will be a tour of the Ball Park in
Arlington, and a square dance tip will be held at the Ball Park, where the Texas Rangers play. A total of
25 people are needed to make the tour. The cost is only $30, so if you previously paid the higher fee for

Unconfirmed Dances
Sometimes, dances that are listed in The Modern Square have ''questionable dates''
(a Sunday evening Special Dance), or incomplete information...and efforts to check with the club contact were unsuccessful.
As such, a brief mention is made of those dances here...but until a contact from the club gets in touch with the Editor
of The Modern Square, or the Webmaster, are contacted, the information will NOT be listed.
There are 3 Special Dances in 2012 that are listed in the February, 2012 issue of The Modern Square
for the Guys 'N Dolls Square Dance Club in Texarkana, with national callers for each dance. However, the date of the dances
are on a Sunday evening...which to me, is a bit of a surprise. I would think that a special dance is more likely on a
Friday or Saturday evening, with maybe a Trail-Out Dance on a Sunday morning. Unfortunately, the contact for the club has an apparent invalid email address
(the one that's in The Modern Square was returned as undeliverable), and there is no phone number listed.
